A report by Insider Monkey, backed by Mordor Intelligence, answers the intriguing question of which is Asia’s biggest gambling destination. The Philippines tops the ranking of countries in the gaming industry with the most casinos and casino hotels in the Asia-Pacific region, it says. The country has 76 casinos and 66 casino hotels. Cambodia ranks right behind with 52 casinos and 17 hotel resorts offering gaming tourism.
Macau, which attracts 30 million players a year, takes third place with 47 casinos and 56 casino hotels. Vietnam is fourth with 40 casinos and 29 hotel-casino locations, with the Grand Ho Tram being the largest betting venue in the region, with over 100,000 sq m of five-star betting space. South Korea is fifth with 32 casinos and 31 casino hotels.
Gaming tourism is a major source of revenue in the region, dominated by major companies such as Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment, Wynn Macau, SJM and Melco. With the development of online betting, annual gaming revenue in Asia is reaching $90 billion, and is expected to grow to $150 billion by 2029. Also, the COVID-19 pandemic is driving the growth of digital and mobile gaming, preferred by 71.6% of players in the region.
