For the last month, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) has identified 60 websites for gambling that do not have a valid license in accordance with the Gambling Act. After a thorough inspection, research, and analysis of facts and circumstances to identify websites, it became clear that Bulgarian consumers have had access to illegal gambling and illegal online betting. The lists with the decisions of the NRA and the domains of the illegal operators are uploaded on the website of the institution.
According to the law, those websites must cease operations within 3 days from the date of publication of the decision. In case that the given time expires, and they are still active, the NRA will refer to the court to issue an order to the Internet service providers in the country to suspend access to illegal pages and their under domains.
Experts from the Agency comment that using unlicensed operators hides many risks, concerning personal data and personal resources of the players. They recommend, before choosing an operator, always checking the NRA’s website to see whether its name appears in the list of licensed operators.
