Companies from the gambling industry, which operate legally on the Bulgarian market, have paid out nearly BGN 6 billion (BGN 5.79 billion) income in the form of monetary and material winnings over BGN 5000 in 2023, the National Revenue Agency, led by Rumen Spetsov, Mediapool reports.

According to the data of the Revenue agency, the growth compared to the previous year 2022 is highly noticeable – nearly 147%. In 2022, the amount of paid winnings worth more than BGN 5000 was BGN 2.34 billion.

By law, gambling operators are obliged to declare annually to the tax agency the winnings paid to individuals over BGN 5000. The data provided by the Agency do not take into account small profits of up to BGN 5,000.

The income of BGN 5.79 billion was paid to 120,853 people. In 2022, 52,852 people received similar profits.
