In the last three months of 2023, the NRA suspended more than 600 sites that organize gambling games by companies without an existing license under the Gambling Act. After publishing the decision on the NRA’s website, the sites listed in it should cease their activity within 3 days.
The NRA refers the matter to the court in the event that after the expiration of this period, the unregulated online platforms are available in Bulgaria and bets can be placed through them by users in the country. The magistrates, in turn, issue an order to the Internet service providers in Bulgaria to terminate access to the pages and their subdomains.
The decisions of the Executive Director of the NRA, as well as the orders of the Sofia District Court, are published in the section “Online Gambling” on the website of the revenue agency. The NRA also maintains an up-to-date list of the websites through which gambling games are organized by persons who do not have an effective license under the Gambling Act. In the event that a user comes across an unregulated online betting platform, he can report to the revenue agency by email illegal_gambling@nra.bg. It is necessary to indicate the site and its ISP. More information about the risks posed by illegal sites can be found in the “Responsible Gambling” section of the NRA’s website and on the Agency’s YouTube channel.
