The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, which tracks the progress of the association and its members in promoting safe and responsible gaming, as well as their positive contributions to socially important issues in Europe. The report indicates that in 2023, the gaming industry made significant strides in various areas.
The report highlights the increased use of responsible gaming tools, with data showing that 65% of European consumers, equating to 21 million active users, now utilize these tools. More than half of these users engage with the tools voluntarily, indicating a growing commitment to integrating responsible gaming practices.
This progress is also the result of extensive industry efforts to promote responsible gaming, as evidenced by the 67.6 million messages sent promoting responsible gaming, a 49% increase compared to the previous year. The data suggests that these types of messages are effective among users showing signs of problematic gaming behavior.
Positive results are also due to the level of preparedness of the teams. According to the report, 80% of employees have successfully completed specialized training in responsible gaming.
Environmental conservation is another area where the industry has achieved significant success. In 2023, total energy consumption amounted to 253.4 GWh, with 71.8% of it coming from renewable sources.
These indicators demonstrate the progress of the gaming industry in Europe regarding the integration of responsible gaming practices and the support of socially significant initiatives.
