Illegal gambling and the need for coordinated efforts to counteract it were key topics in a meeting between Rumen Petkov, leader of the ABV party and Chairman of the International Institute for Security and Cooperation, and H.E. Miklós Boros, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Bulgaria.
During the discussion, Mr. Petkov presented the agenda for the Institute’s upcoming session, which will take place in Budapest. Among the central topics of the forum will be the fight against addiction, specifically drug and gambling addiction, with a strong emphasis on the need for effective measures to combat illegal gambling.
Ambassador Boros expressed full support and understanding for these initiatives, highlighting the importance of a unified European policy in addressing illegal gambling activities across the continent.
The two sides also discussed Bulgaria’s upcoming presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), set to begin on January 1, 2026, and reaffirmed their readiness to cooperate within this key regional framework.
