In a contentious session, Parliament has decisively voted against proposed amendments to the Gambling Act aimed at restricting the advertisement of gambling activities. The amendments, put forth by Kostadin Kostadinov of the Revival party, were met with a resounding 67-29 vote rejection, accompanied by 79 abstentions.
The discussion lasted an hour and a half and was attended by representatives of various political forces.
Among the changes that were discussed were regional health inspectorates to monitor the spread of gambling ads and to limit them. Currently, this control activity is legally assigned to the NRA.
MPs from the fourth political force also insisted on a change in gambling rates, proposing instead of a fixed amount the rate to be a percentage of the value of the bets made, and the percentage changes according to the type of game and the technical means.
